It all began when Katie Pietrak, a music enthusiast and craft hobbyist, was organizing her own record collection one afternoon ā€“ a collection of several thousand albums she started amassing when she was 15. Something clicked while she was admiring the shiny black vinyl, the colorful circular labels and the vintage album art. Why not take these beautiful albums and make them into notebooks? Vintage Vinyl Journals, based in Pennsylvania, was then born and launched in the Spring of 2011 creating unique handmade gifts from recycled vinyl records and high quality acid-free paper. Most of the albums are damaged and unplayable and would otherwise wind up in a landfill. Since launching, Vintage Vinyl Journals are sold on their e-commerce website, in over two dozen retail stores and at local art, craft and music festivals. Vintage Vinyl Journals is a member of the Green Business Network and has been certified Silver with Green America. The offices have also been certified green. We rescued the forgotten vinyl record and lovingly crafted a one-of-a-kind blank writing notebook for those who appreciate a simpler time ā€“ when albums started with a pop and a hiss as needle met groove and thoughts were recorded pen to paper. This journal contains 220 acid-free high quality unlined pages. Adding to the uniqueness of each journal is a carefully handcrafted cover and finish work. The fronts and backs of the journals are made from actual old albums, not reproductions of the art. Let the words flow. Create your own music.

Thoughts on America:
There was a nice serge of Made in American over the holidays (with Diane Sawyer's feature) and it would be awesome to keep the momentum going so we can take back America and turn this economy and our pride in the right direction for ourselves and future generations. I am proud to live in this great country of ours and I feel strongly that if we remain positive and spread the good news we can all have a part in taking back America. Iā€™m hoping to make a change with my small business and we need to encourage others to do the same!
